Yearbook for Sale
If you haven’t purchased your yearbook yet time is running out! Kelly’s yearbook is a full-color, hardback book full of memories of all the fun activities we have had at school this year. If you don’t remember if you have purchase one you can check with the front office, the cost is $25.

Student Led Conferences
Kelly students are currently busy preparing for our upcoming Student-Led Conferences on June 15 and 16. At this conference, your son or daughter will act as a guide and present to you a portfolio of some of the work they have completed this year. This is an opportunity for your student to show ownership of their learning as they articulate to you what they have been learning, why it is important, and how it has affected them. Based upon the work in the portfolio, you and your student will consider their educational growth and formulate learning goals for next year. It is very important that both you and your student attend this conference. We hope to see each and every parent or guardian and their child at this exciting event, and we look forward to hearing your comments after the experience.

End of the Year Field Trips
Students from every grade level will be rewarded for a year of hard work with an end-of-the-year field trip day.

  • 8th graders will go to Camp Harlow on June 19
  • 7th graders will travel to SPLASH on June 21
  • 6th graders take a trip to Camp Wilani on June 22

Students, teachers, and parent chaperones will ride buses for a day of fun in the sun (hopefully), picnicking, and relaxation. With parent permission, swimming will be allowed. There will be lifeguards on duty.

These trips are an earned privilege, which we look forward to sharing with our students. But, as such, only those students whose work and behavior are appropriate starting from May 8 through June 21 will be permitted the privilege to attend these fun events.

If your student is disqualified from participating in this trip you will be notified and asked to keep her/him at home on that day. If your student comes to school, s/he will attend an all-day study hall. (All teachers will be going on the trip.) We look forward to this being an enjoyable day for our students. To provide for their safety we need six parents per grade level to assist us as chaperones on this trip. Please contact your Shelley Hoffman (hoffman_sh@4j.lane.edu) if you are able to assist.

8th Grade Promotion
Wednesday, June 21
The recognition ceremony begins at 7 p.m. in the outer gym. Evening events are planned only for the 8th graders, their families, and staff members. The Promotion Celebration will take place from 8:30- 10:30 pm. and will be held in the small gym and cafeteria.

For safety reasons, it is important to note that students should not leave campus between the recognition ceremony and the party. In addition, once students leave the party (or even step outside) they will not be able to return to the celebration.

6th & 7th Grade Families
We are in need of adult chaperones for the party Wednesday, June 21, 8:15-10:30 pm. We encourage families of 6th and 7th-grade students to chaperone. We also need help with parking so that all 8th-grade families can enjoy the ceremony. Parking help is needed Wednesday, June 21, 6:15-7:15 pm. Contact Shelley Hoffman: hoffman_sh@4j.lane.edu

Tasteful Dressing Guidelines
Attire for the evening is good school clothes. We do not want anyone to feel unable to participate because she/he does not have fancy clothes. Keep in mind this is a middle school party, not a high school prom. Please use the following guidelines.

Nice pants/shirts

Not Acceptable:
Formals, strapless dresses or tops
Low cut bodices, backs, trains
Visible bra straps
Revealing midriffs
Tuxedos
