Fall Fest Reminders

  • Costumes must not violate Kelly’s dress code and must not be culturally or ethnically insensitive.
  • No masks or objects depicting weapons.
  • Face paint is NOT allowed as it often needs to be reapplied during the school day (=distraction).
  • Clown Costumes are prohibited.
  • Due to the rhetoric and negativity created from politicals, no political costumes.
  • No cameras or phone cameras allowed.
  • Candy should not be brought to school and distributed either on the day of Halloween or the weeks following.

Students, who do not follow the above guidelines, will be asked to change and parents notified.

ParentVue Activation Codes
Your student should have brought home your activation code for ParentVue  a couple of weeks ago. If you didn’t receive your activation code please call the front office and we can help you.  ParentVue is a very helpful tool for parents to see a variety of information about their student.  Progress Reports are this week and if you have ParentVue you can see the grades when they are posted on Monday rather than having to wait for snail mail.

The River Walk was a Big Success
Our students, parents, and community managed to raise $12,301. We will use these funds to go towards PE equipment, field trips, technology upgrades, and supplies. Many thanks to every student, parent, and guardian that worked to raise money for our school. Every dollar counts and we greatly appreciate your hard work and generosity. A special shout out goes to the top four money earners in the school: Dylan Matthiesen-Johnson ($275), Natalie Hobbs ($225), Sarafina Adee ($212) and Artemisia-Hunt ($209). We also had 45 students raise $125 to earn a trip to Skate World. The top three class earners were: Mr. Douma ($1472), Mrs. Whitlock ($884) and Mr. Malcolm ($871).

We are grateful to all of you who supported our students in this endeavor. Your efforts will help to ensure a wonderful year at Kelly Middle School. There were many who donated time, money and effort to making the River Walk such a success

Thank you so much!

Juntos Project
The Center for Equity Promotion (CEQP) at the University of Oregon is conducting a program to support Latino parents and middle school staff in helping Latino middle school students do well in school. The project has several phases and for this particular section, we are inviting all parents, all students and all staff to complete an All School Climate Survey.

As a parent/guardian, you are invited to complete the anonymous survey. To access the parent survey online go to https://ceqp.uoregon.edu/ and click on the photo of your student’s school. You will be automatically directed to the survey page which you can fill out online. At the top of the survey, there is a drop-down arrow for choosing either English or Spanish.

If you prefer to take the survey on paper you can find copies in Spanish and English in the front office, you can return your completed survey at the front office as well.

All surveys will be available online or in paper from October 23rd until November 30th, 2017. After this date, the survey will no longer be available.

Kelly Middle School will receive a $1.00 donation by CEQP for each completed PARENT survey.
