Important BEST Information
Our last day for the BEST program is June 6.  There will be no morning or afterschool care provided after June 6.  Please plan accordingly. The end of the year field trip will be June 6, our last day of the program.  We are renting Echo Hollow indoor pool.  All students will need to have a permission slip signed in order to attend this event.  We will be sending students home with a permission slip for you to sign next week. There will be alternate field games for students who forget their swimsuit or who do not wish to swim.

We will be hosting a family night coming up Wednesday, June 5 from 4:30-5:30 PM.  We will be showcasing our drama production and several other activities your student has been involved in this year at BEST such as our school garden, robotics club, dance troupe, soccer and more!   Please come even if you can’t make it for the whole hour.

Ultimate Frisbee Summer Camps
Interested in learning a new sport or improving your skills? Want a fun, welcoming and inclusive environment for all levels of experience and athleticism, that focuses on being kind, respectful, and spirited? You should try playing ultimate frisbee! This summer, Eugene Middle School Ultimate a nonprofit that provides youth ultimate leagues and camps will have three middle school camps that are perfect ways to introduce yourself to the sport of ultimate or really hone your skills. The camps are all co-ed, for incoming 5th graders to outgoing 8th graders, and feature an excellent group of professional counselors. The three camps are June 24th-28th, July 22nd-26th and August 19th-23rd – each camp runs from 9 am – 3 pm. Camp registration costs $180, but we offer scholarships for any students who need, so cost should not be a deterrent. Players will also receive a disc and shirt, and the opportunity to win other fun prizes. Head to our website (www.emsultimate.com/store) to register and for more info!

There is also a fall and spring league between school-based teams, so your player could continue to play next year as well (we hope to start a Kelly team, but they can always pick up with other schools). We have heard from countless parents and players about how much they appreciate the way ultimate and our league operates and focuses on inclusivity and fun, and less on the pressured competition. Our community has been life changing for many and we hope to continue to grow and expand! If you have any questions about summer camps, EMSU, or ultimate in general, reach out to EMSU’s Executive Director Russell Arkin at russell@emsultimate.com.
