A Message from the Principals

Today teachers entered student progress grading information into Synergy to produce progress reports that will be sent via US Mail and available in Parent VUE. Parent VUE will only show progress and final grades this year and not weekly student progress or engagement in the learning environment.

The best ways to monitor and to support student engagement and learning is to become an ‘Observer’ in your students’ Canvas courses. Links to instructions to become a Canvas observer are shown below in the next section of this message weekly message.

You may have received a post card from Kelly announcing conferences and suggesting some steps to prepare for conferences. A copy of the post card is shown on page 3 of this weekly message.

Advisory teachers sent email invitations to parents and families to schedule a Student/Teacher/Family conference next week on October 28 & October 29. Please schedule your 15-minute Zoom conference for you and your student today. If the available times do not work with your family schedule, please send your student’s Advisory teacher an email requesting other conference options.

On A and B Days, all teachers have office hours from 9:15 until 10:45 to support student learning. Office hours can be accessed in each and every Canvas course. Teachers post directions to join office hours on the ‘office hours’ button or at the bottom of the course home page. Additionally, all teachers have Flex Wednesday afternoon office hours posted in Canvas courses. If you need assistance accessing office hours, please email teachers in Canvas or send an email to Wayland or Prater at the email addresses show at the bottom of this section.

On Thursday November 5, our Kelly Parent and Family Group will meet via Zoom from 7 pm – 8 pm. A Zoom meeting link will be shared in next week’s WAG. Agenda items include a Principal’s Update, Fundraising Planning and special guest, Molly Lajoie, who is the director of our BEST program that will continue to provide enrichment and support opportunities for your students this year.

If you have questions about any aspect of Comprehensive Distance Learning, please send us an email any time or call the main office on school days between 8 am and 4 pm.

Kelly Pilots

At Kelly, we use a unifying framework to help guide the work we do with students. We want ALL students to be able to demonstrate these concepts before moving to high school. We have captured these concepts in the following acronym that also dovetails with our aeronautic history.

Our teachers will address these concepts in advisory as well as throughout their curriculum when helping students grow into contributing and compassionate citizens of the world. We invite you

to use the same words and concepts when working with your students at home and in the community.
