A Message from the Principals
Our Kelly MS T-shirt and supply distribution put green shirts in the hands of 300 student on January 7. Thank you to our Kelly Family and Parent group for supporting fundraising for the T-shirt purchases.
If you were NOT able to join us yesterday, please call the Kelly Main Office to arrange a “contact-free” delivery outside the main entrance of our school. School supplies including a calculator, stylus, a spiral notebook and a Kelly Middle School T-shirt will be provided.
Thursday January 13 is our Club Day this month. Please encourage your students to try out a new club or continue to enjoy meeting with peers and staff members in during these Wednesday opportunities. We added some NEW clubs based on student survey feedback and invite you to look below for more details. Beginning in February, there will be four “Flex Days,” so joining a Club now may lead to the development of new skills, expanded interests and more time with peers in a supervised, non-academic setting.
Please let us know how we may be of service with regard to your students’ individual needs during Comprehensive Distance Learning.

It’s School Choice Time
Come see what our 4j schools offer!
The school choice season for the 2021–22 school year is coming in January. In Eugene School District 4J, every school offers students excellent educational opportunities. Students may enroll in their neighborhood school at any time, or request to enroll in a different 4J school if space is available. School choice requests are accepted in an order determined by lottery.
To be included in the annual school choice lottery, 4J residents must apply between January 1–31. Non-district residents apply later, March 1–31.
Families are invited to explore their school choice options, including their neighborhood school, during the January school choice period. All 4J schools will hold virtual visits in January. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the annual Elementary School Showcase will not be held this year.

Kelly Pilots
At Kelly, we use a unifying framework to help guide the work we do with students. We want ALL students to be able to demonstrate these concepts before moving to high school. We have captured these concepts in the following acronym that also dovetails with our aeronautic history.
P = PERSEVERE
I = IMAGINE
L = LEARN
O = OWN
T = TEAM
S = SUPPORT
Our teachers will address these concepts in advisory as well as throughout their curriculum when helping students grow into contributing and compassionate citizens of the world. We invite you to use the same words and concepts when working with your students at home and in the community.
Wraparound Program Opportunity

Canvas Support for Families
The best way to monitor and to support student engagement and learning is to become an ‘Observer’ in your students’ Canvas courses. Please use the links below to assist you to navigate in Canvas as “Observers” in our learning management system. This can serve as an important parent-student-school connection routine. This will also be an important opportunity to monitor and to support student engagements, learning, and progress this year during Trimester 1 Comprehensive Distance Learning model.
LTD Touch Pass
LTD provides local schools a way for students to ride on any LTD bus free. If your student is in need of a Touch Pass, please inform Secretary Laura Moncada at 541-790-4742 or by email at moncadapacheco_l@4j.lane.edu Thank You.
