A Message from the Principals
Please notice new information in four articles below this opening message.
New information on how to sign up for North Eugene High School’s Summer Bridge program for next year’s 9th grade students is in the first article. Sign up and attend to earn high school credit and get a start on high school learning.
New information about FREE Wednesday meal pick up at Kelly Middle School can be read in the second article. Multiple-day, “Grab-n-Go” meal bags are available from 12:45-2:15 near the flagpole at the Main entrance.
New information details about state testing and school testing routines can be seen below. Please take a few minutes to notice when state testing sessions for your cohort will be held on May 19 and May 26. Students whose families “opt-out” of state testing will not be expected to attend on those days.
New information about our school assessments (Easy CBM reading and math skills progress) on the afternoon of May 12 is shown below. Students will receive information about when and where via a Canvas course announcement that will include a Zoom link, which is how we offered this assessment during Trimester 1 in October, 2020.
Sadly, our 4j middle schools will NOT be offering Track and Field to middle school students this year based on my most recent communications from our district. I am sorry we cannot provide this experience for our students this year.

Oregon State Assessment Tests on-site at Kelly
State testing will take place in-person on two Wednesdays in May and will not interfere with class time. We still have several families who have not responded about testing participation. If you have not yet responded and would like your student to participate or would like your student to opt out of testing, please call the office or send an email to us at Kelly. Online students may attend either in-person session shown below. There is not an option of taking the test at home.
Wednesday May 19 from 9-12–CO (Monday/Tuesday) students and Online students
Wednesday May 26 from 9-12–OC (Thursday/Friday) students and Online students
School Reading and Math Testing Expectations
Wednesday, May 12 from 12:30-2:00 in Zoom. The link will be shared in the KMS PILOTS Canvas course. EasyCBM tests are used to progress monitor students in reading and math. Students typically test three times a year. These tests are shorter than the state tests that are part of the Oregon State Assessment.
Summer Learning at Kelly
Please take a look at your calendar and mark our first 3-week session as meeting between June 28-July 15. Our second 3-week session will be meeting between July 26-August 12. We plan to offer a Spanish Immersion cohort during BOTH sessions that will be taught by our Kelly Immersion teachers. This will be an excellent time to connect for enrichment and language practice with other students. Both language programs will meet at Kelly Middle School in the morning until early afternoon. We hope that your student will attend as your interests and summer calendars allow.
We will be offering two session of summer learning and enrichment for current 6th and 7th grade students at Kelly Middle School. The programs will be FREE for each and every student. We will provide a Spanish Immersion program and an English Language program during both of our 3-week summer sessions. Each session will include in-person activities and community enrichment trips as allowed by our Lane County health numbers and 4j Covid-19 safety practices in place at the time of the sessions. The summer sessions will be supported and presented by Kelly teachers and classified staff.

We ask that families please follow these guidelines to help all students stay healthy and ready to learn.
- Please do not send an ill student to school.
- Please contact your health care provider about any SERIOUS ILLNESS or if you are worried about your student’s health. If you need help in finding a healthcare provider, you may contact your local health department.
- Please notify the school if your child is diagnosed with a CONTAGIOUS DISEASE.
- Please notify the school if your student requires MEDICATIONS during school hours.
- Follow school protocols for medication at school. If your student’s illness requires antibiotics, the student must have been on antibiotics for at least 24 hours before returning to school, and longer in some cases. Antibiotics are not effective for viral illnesses.
