Veteran’s Day Monday November 11–NO School for Students

School will be closed for all students and staff on Monday November 11 in observance of this federal holiday.

Kelly Middle School Fragrance-free Zone beginning Tuesday November 12

Several of our staff and students react to fragrances in the environment at school. In the past, we have been a fragrance-free school to respect those staff and students who experience negative health reactions to fragrances in the environment. This year, we have had several incidents of students intentionally spraying other students with products containing fragrances in the hallways, on buses and other common areas.

Please speak with your student about NOT bringing ANY sprays to school and not using ANY spray products during the school day. This is a courtesy to others. We will be educating students in Advisory the week of November 4-7 about this change in expectations and hope to have your support for a fragrance-free school environment for all staff and students.

Reminder to Students: Lost and Found is NOT a locker nor a “Free” Table

In the past few weeks, students have removed items from our “lost and found” area that do not belong to them. It is very important that students secure all personal belongings in their lockers and check “lost and found” for items they may lose. Please remind your students to keep track of backpacks, binders, water bottles and other personal items brought to school. We will clear our “lost and found” area at the end of Quarter 1, which is Thursday November 7. Items will be donated to local charitable organizations.

Kelly Parent Group meets November 14 at 6 pm in the Kelly Library

This group is organized by parents; for parents, to support fundraising and other school activities at Kelly this year. This month’s meeting will include a presentation about standards-based, proficiency grading that many of our Kelly teachers are using in classrooms this year.

Fundraising event at Wayback Burgers on Tuesday November 19 4:00 pm-8:00 pm

Thanks to our parent council volunteers for setting up this month’s fundraising event for families to enjoy a meal in the community and raise money for student activities at the same time. The restaurant will donate 20% of total food and beverage purchases from all guests who bring in flyers the night of the event.  We will distribute the fundraising flyers via text message next week.

Kelly Middle School Site Council suspended in November and December

Our Site Council meetings have been postponed until January 2025. We are attempting to arrange for staff participation, which is a requirement for a working site council.
