A big thank you to all the families who volunteered their time or donated snacks to help make Student Activity Night a success! Your support means so much and is truly appreciated.

Food Drive
We are in the middle of the holiday season. As much joy as this can bring, it can also bring a lot of stress for families, especially for those families who have food insecurity. Community Service Class would like to bring a little joy to our community. We are holding a canned food drive from Friday, December 5th-Friday, December 19th. Please help us to spread joy this holiday season and help us collect the following items:
Top Food Drive Items
  • Proteins: Peanut butter, canned chicken/tuna/salmon, canned beans (black, kidney, garbanzo), lentils.
  • Grains: Whole wheat pasta, brown rice, oatmeal, whole-grain cereal, macaroni & cheese.
  • Fruits & Vegetables: Canned tomatoes, low-sodium canned veggies, canned fruit in juice, applesauce.
  • Soups & Stews: soups, canned stews, broths/stocks.
  • Breakfast/Snacks: Granola bars, whole-grain crackers, dried fruit, nuts, shelf-stable milk.
  • Pantry Staples: Cooking oil (canola/olive), basic spices (salt, pepper, garlic powder), honey, sugar, coffee, tea.

Thank you for helping us spread joy and support to our community this holiday season!

Volunteers Still Needed
We have several opportunities in the coming weeks to volunteer at Kelly:
OBOB leaders
Book Room Organizers
Mentors
General help during activity times
If you are interested in helping in one or more of these ways please fill out the volunteer application. If you already are cleared to volunteer, and are interested in any of these opportunities, please reach out at 541-790-4740 or prater_s@4j.lane.edu.

Mentor volunteers:
Kelly Middle School is looking for a new volunteer Mentor Coordinator. Our Middle School Lunchtime Mentoring Program supports at risk youth by partnering them with a Mentor for lunch once a week. Last year we had 112 students being Mentored in 4J each week. The Kelly Mentor Coordinator volunteers on Tuesdays from 12:30-1:30, and does another 30 minutes of flexible communications during the week. The volunteer Mentor Coordinator is fully trained and supported by the 4J staff Mentor Coordinator. This is a fantastic way to get involved in our community, and make a difference in the lives of young people! Please contact Kate Becker for more information:  becker_k@4j.lane.edu  541-517-0394
