Dear Kelly Community,

The Kelly transition leadership team met Tuesday, January 14, with the YG transition team. We are working through a lot of questions and we are processing class space availability and day-to-day school operations for the fall of 2020. Both teams will meet together again on Thursday, January 23, and will continue processing. More information will be shared as our work together continues.

Thank you,

Juan Cuadros

North HS New Design

North Eugene High School Design Open House

The new North Eugene High School will be under construction soon, thanks to voters’ approval of the 2018 school bond measure.

As families are aware, Yujin Gakuen Elementary School will move to temporarily co-locate at Kelly and Corridor Elementary will move to the North Eugene building before construction begins in summer 2020. After the new high school opens in 2023, the current building will be renovated and repurposed to house school programs.

The new high school will be a high-quality building designed for safety and security, efficiency and sustainability, and 21st century learning including robust career technical education. The new school will be a community asset able to serve as a shelter after a natural disaster, with resiliency upgrades such as key areas built to an upgraded seismic standard.

You are invited on Tuesday, January 21 to a community open house about the design of the new high school.

Meet the architects. Get a look at the initial design concepts. Share your comments and ask questions about the new high school design. Learn how our community’s bond dollars will be invested wisely in a new flagship high school building in North Eugene to serve students now and for generations to come.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Question:  How do I get my student out of class early?

Answer: Write them a note with the dismissal time, they show that to the teacher at that time and then use it as their hall pass to the office. Please make an allowance in the dismissal time for them to collect their things and get to the office by the time you need them in the office.

Question: What is Kelly’s cell phone policy?

Answer: OFF and AWAY during the school day.

Question: What medication needs to be checked into the office?

Answer: ALL prescription medications need to be checked into the office. Middle school students can carry a day’s supply of non-prescription medication in the original container with a note from the parent.

Question: When and what time is early release?

Answer: Every Friday school is in session at 2:35 PM.

It’s School Choice Time

Come see what our schools offer!

In Eugene School District 4J, every school offers an excellent education for our students. Students may enroll in their neighborhood school at any time, or may request to enroll in a different 4J school provided there is space available. School choice requests will be accepted in an order determined by lottery.

To be included in the lottery, 4J residents must apply (4jschoolchoice.com) by January 31 at midnight. Non-district residents must apply between March 1 and 31. All students who want to obtain a transfer must apply, including new incoming siblings and students who have moved but want to stay enrolled at our school.

School visits are scheduled in the month of January. If you have any friends or family members who are considering school choice, please invite them to come learn more about our wonderful school and their school choice options!

Attention 8th grade families, North Eugene High School is hosting School Choice Night on Wednesday, January 22nd at 6pm in the NEHS cafeteria.  This is the first of two events that give you an opportunity to learn basic information about what North has to offer.  The second event, 8th Grade Preview Night will occur in April and will feature more in-depth and elaborate information for all incoming 9th graders to North Eugene High School.”
