Video Cameras Add School Security
A key school security improvement has been implemented at our school, funded by the 2013 school bond measure. Security cameras are now installed in all middle and high schools, and will be in all elementary schools by the end of the school year.
The cameras will provide an extra set of eyes in key areas such as the school entry and exterior, hallways, gym and cafeteria. There are no cameras in places like bathrooms or locker rooms.
The equipment will provide an improved measure of security after hours as well as during the school day. The cameras are in operation 24 hours a day but will not be continuously monitored live.
Voters in Eugene School District 4J in 2013 resoundingly passed a school bond measure to fund school improvements, including video cameras in schools. More safety and security enhancements are included in the 2018-bond measure. Thanks to the community’s support, all 4J schools will have an extra set of eyes to help keep our students safe and our schools secure.

Annual Food Drive
Feb 18 to March 11
Last year, students were astounded to find out that Food for Lane County moves over 6 million pounds of food each year and that about 1 in 3 children benefit from their services each year. Advisory classes compete to earn the most points, food items are assigned point values depending on the nutritional value. Students will be bringing home more information soon. Over the past two years, Kelly students have helped bring in more than 6,000 pounds of food. This generates meals for more than 650 families! It is inspiring to watch our student’s band together and take a leadership role in helping feed our community.
Track Starting Soon
Track season will begin March 4. If you think, your child might be interested in participating, please schedule a physical now. In order to be on the team students must have a physical that is no more than 2 years (dated after March 5, 2017). You can call the office if you need to check and see if we have a current physical on file for your student. Students can pick up the track packets in the office or you can download the forms from our website.
Online payment for track fees is available too, click here. Please get your packets in as soon as possible as this helps us to know how many students we will have on the team. We are allocated coaches based on the number of students on the team, so the sooner you get your track packets in, the sooner we are able to secure coaching!
See below the important Track dates:
First Practice: Monday March 9
Meets: Thursdays, April 9, 16, 23
Sub District: April 30
Districts: May 8 at Silke Field, Springfield
Direct Donations are also welcome to assist in purchasing new supplies for Track

THROUGH THE ‘ADOPT-A-SCHOOL’ program, we have scholarship vouchers at Kelly Middle School for Kidsports activities. Please check with the office to apply for a voucher. Dear Kelly Families,
We have a wonderful opportunity for our Kelly students to learn Mexican traditional dances. Ms. Teresa Montes, a volunteer parent at El Camino del Río, has put together two dance groups at the elementary school. She is offering to work with Kelly students on Wednesday evenings, from 7:00 to 7:30 p.m. The immediate goal is to teach students a dance to be performed during our Benito Juárez Celebration, coming up on Friday, April 10. The long-term goal is to create the possibility to form a regular middle school dance troupe at Kelly.
For information, please contact Fernell López at 541-790-4759, email: email@example.com, or directly with Teresa Montes phone# 5415102331, or Nikita Brougher email:
